We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following positions in our San Francisco office. At this time, we are only considering candidates with an established consulting practice and an existing client base.
Materials Engineer/Metallurgical Engineer
This position requires a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering with a broad-based materials background (ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, and non-metals). Experience in failure analysis, corrosion, and welding is desirable. You will be responsible for the analysis of mechanical and materials failures ranging from consumer products to complex mechanical systems. You will be conducting hands-on failure analysis, planning and executing laboratory tests and simulations. Duties also include field inspections, metallurgical analysis and testing of mechanical designs to determine the cause of accidents and failures. Additional responsibilities include advising clients on issues such as product recall and risk prevention and presenting results in a variety of forums, including testifying in court. We are looking for a recognized leader in their field with consulting experience and an established practice. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail.
Civil Engineer
This position requires an MS or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, and a PE or SE license in the State of California. We are looking for a very strong candidate to lead Principia's civil and structural engineering services. Your responsibilities will include both technical consulting on projects and growing the business in this area.
Mechanical Engineer
This position requires an MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on thermodynamics, heat transfer, chemistry, and combustion. You will be responsible for failure analysis and accident reconstruction of fires and explosions. In addition to technical work on consulting projects, you will be expected to grow our business in this area.
Human Factors/Ergonomics
This position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology or Industrial Engineering with an emphasis on man-machine interaction. You will be responsible for applying principles of human factors and human cognition to the investigation of automobile, aviation, and industrial accidents. In addition to technical work on consulting projects, you will be expected to grow our business in this area.
Electrical Engineer
This position requires an MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on component design, power systems, or control systems. We are not looking for a software engineer. You will be responsible for failure analysis of products, power systems, and electronics both at the component level and system level. In addition to technical work on consulting projects, you will be expected to grow our business in this area.
