Design & fabrication of ICP power supply and signal conditioning

We had a need for a rugged three-channel power supply for ICP accelerometers. These accelerometers were to be used for in-situ vehicle driveline vibration measurement and system identification. We could not find a compact commercial solution so we designed and fabricated our own circuitry.

The custom printed circuit board was designed using a CAD program. In this process the electronic schematic is translated to a physical layout:

The layout was etched on both sides of a blank circuit board:

The discrete surface-mount components were hand-soldered unto the etched board, and all the wiring connectors were attached:
