Yomi Agunbiade, P.E.Senior Engineer
ExperienceYomi specializes in engineering analysis, management of complex infrastructure projects and executive management. He brings 18 years of design, construction and executive-level leadership experience in the public sector. His skills include project scheduling, cost estimating, logistics and planning, financial analysis, contract negotiation, dispute resolution, organizational development and management, public speaking and public relations. Yomi’s public sector experience ranges from engineering design, to infrastructure project and construction management, to the executive leadership of one of the largest departments in the City and County of San Francisco. As an engineer, construction manager and project manager, Yomi worked on the design of waste water equipment, including pumps, piping, sluice gates, valves, tanks, odor control devices and instrument control systems. As a construction manager, Yomi worked on the team that successfully managed the construction of the 65 million gallon per day Oceanside Waste Water Treatment Control Plant in San Francisco. This facility broke new ground in waste water management when it was completed in 1993. As a project manager, Yomi managed projects of varying budgets and complexity, including the transformation of the old fire department headquarters into a shelter for homeless families. Yomi also worked as Assistant Project Manager on the renovation of San Francisco’s City Hall which opened to widely publicized acclaim in January 1999. He later managed City staff and a consultant team who prepared a Facilities Master Plan and Bond Program report for the San Francisco Unified School District. Voters overwhelmingly approved the $295M bond program based on this work in November 2003. Starting with his appointment in Mayor Willie Brown's administration, Yomi lead a team of project managers responsible for overseeing more than $400M of capital improvement projects in San Francisco Parks, including the renovation of Harding golf course and numerous playgrounds, playfields, swimming pools and recreation centers. Yomi was appointed to his most recent role as General Manager of the Recreation and Park Department (SFRPD) by Mayor Gavin Newsom. In this role, he reported to a 7 member commission and was accountable to the Mayor, 11 members of the Board of Supervisors, and all San Francisco park users. He was responsible for the executive direction of a department with over 230 parks, over 90 facilities, more than 1000 employees and an annual budget of over $100M.
